StillSpainNatural mineral water

Hacendado is Mercadona’s own-brand water, sourced from the Agua de Bronchales spring in Bronchales, in the province of Teruel, Aragon, Spain. Mercadona is Spain’s largest supermarket chain by market share. Beyond the source location, limited public documentation is available about the spring’s geology or history. The water holds natural mineral water status.

Mineral character

Hacendado is a very weakly mineralised water with an unusual ion distribution. TDS is approximately 34 mg/L, placing it among the softest waters in the database. What distinguishes it from other very soft waters (Bezoya, Fastio, Mont Roucous) is the relative dominance of sulphate: at 14.1 mg/L, sulphate is the highest of the six standard ions, while bicarbonate is only 4.9 mg/L. Most natural mineral waters have bicarbonate as the dominant anion; a sulphate-over-bicarbonate profile at this level of mineralisation is unusual. Calcium (2.2 mg/L) and magnesium (2.4 mg/L) are near-equal and very low; sodium is 1 mg/L; chloride is 2.5 mg/L. Total hardness is 15 mg/L as CaCO₃; alkalinity is only 4 mg/L as CaCO₃.
