Mineral character

Bezoya is one of the softest waters in the TWD database. All six ions are at or near detection limits: calcium 4 mg/L, magnesium 1 mg/L, sodium 1 mg/L, sulphate 0 mg/L, chloride 0.5 mg/L, and bicarbonate 18 mg/L. Total hardness is 14 mg/L as CaCO₃; alkalinity is 15 mg/L as CaCO₃. TDS is approximately 27 mg/L. For blending purposes it functions as a diluent: it adds volume without adding minerals and has almost no buffering capacity.

Documented use and context

Bezoya is listed as suitable for preparing infant formula by the Asociación Española de Pediatría (Spanish Paediatrics Association), which specifies waters with very low mineral content and sodium below 20 mg/L for this purpose. Bezoya’s sodium of 1 mg/L is among the lowest of any commercially distributed water in Europe.
