Vellamo

StillFinland’s only natural mineral source

Vellamo is a natural mineral water from a spring in the Hauho municipality of Häme, Finland. The brand describes the source as having been isolated for approximately 10,000 years since the last ice age, reflecting the age of the glacial deposit in which the aquifer is enclosed. Vellamo is marketed as Finland’s only commercially bottled natural mineral water with official NMW designation.

Mineral character

Calcium is 51 mg/L, magnesium 13 mg/L, sodium 85 mg/L, sulphate 27 mg/L, chloride 110 mg/L, and bicarbonate 210 mg/L. Hardness is 181 mg/L as CaCO₃. The profile is notable for elevated sodium at 85 mg/L and chloride at 110 mg/L relative to the overall hardness, suggesting some saline influence in the deep aquifer. The combination of moderate hardness with high sodium is unusual among European mineral waters.
