Luso is a natural mineral water from Luso, a spa town in the municipality of Mealhada, Aveiro, in the Beira Litoral region of Portugal. The spring has been in therapeutic use since the 18th century and the Luso brand has been commercially bottled since the mid-20th century. The brand is owned by Unicer (Super Bock Group).

Mineral character

Luso is one of the most lightly mineralised waters in the TWD database. Calcium is 0.75 mg/L, magnesium 1.7 mg/L, sodium 7.3 mg/L, sulphate 1.5 mg/L, chloride 9 mg/L, and bicarbonate 13 mg/L. Hardness is 9 mg/L as CaCO₃ and TDS is below 50 mg/L. The near-zero calcium and bicarbonate are consistent with granitic geology. The brand is approved for infant use under Portuguese classification.
