Glaceau Smartwater

StillVapour-distilled + electrolytes

Glaceau Smartwater is a remineralised water brand owned by Coca-Cola. It is produced by vapour-distillation of water, which removes essentially all dissolved minerals, followed by addition of electrolytes (magnesium sulphate, potassium bicarbonate, calcium chloride). The product is not a natural mineral water or spring water. It was launched in the United States in 1996 and is sold in the UK through Coca-Cola’s distribution network.

Mineral character

The profile is incomplete. Available figures show magnesium 20 mg/L, bicarbonate 10 mg/L, and calcium effectively zero; sodium is zero. Sulphate and chloride are not recorded. The elevated magnesium relative to near-zero calcium is a consequence of the electrolyte addition formula, not geological filtration. Hardness cannot be calculated from the available data.
