Lidl GB’s own-label natural mineral water, from two wells at Foston in Derbyshire, not Scotland. Very hard: about 411 mg/L as CaCO₃, with bicarbonate 364 mg/L.

Lidl GB’s own-label natural mineral water. It comes from two wells at Dove Valley Park, Foston, near Derby, listed on Defra’s register as “Carrick Glen (Wells 2 and 3)”. MEG Derby Ltd bottles it on site and has produced for Lidl GB there since 2023. MEG Derby is part of the Schwarz group, Lidl’s parent. The same plant bottles Lidl’s “Simply” spring water.

Mineral character

Very hard and well mineralised for a UK water. Per litre: calcium 107 mg, magnesium 35 mg, sodium 79 mg, bicarbonate 364 mg, chloride 141 mg, sulphate 85 mg. Hardness is about 411 mg/L as CaCO₃ and alkalinity about 299 mg/L. Dry residue is 650 mg/L and pH 7.3. Sodium and chloride are high enough that MEG’s own sheet answers “no” to “low in sodium?”. Figures are from MEG Derby’s laboratory extract (February 2025); the 2 L label prints the same values.

Sold at Lidl GB in 0.5 L and 2 L, still and sparkling. We couldn’t find a GB price. A 24 × 500 ml “Carrick Glen Spring Water” pack sold in Northern Ireland in January 2026 is labelled spring water, so it isn’t this water.
